Brisbane trip 2

Well, it was my second Visit to Brisbane in one week. This time the stay was a bit longer, judging the fact that there are some important decision to be made. Brisbane office is not very big, looks more like an apartment to me. Anyway, Brisbane indeed a very different city compared to Melbourne. This city got the size and structure of a big city, but the pace of Adelaide. In the office, people gathered for breakfast, for lunch, for afternoon tea etc, as if they haven’t got a lot to do…
The famous Queensland Sun, very strong and very bright, so strong that you can feel that there must be a lot of radiation in there. No wonder Queensland is the state in Australia who got the highest rate of Skin Cancer.
And my powerful V6 Ford Falcon, very good car, very responsive, and very powerful… will definitely consider it if the fuel price is lower….
Back to the Huge Brisbane Airport. This time I wanna show you something special on the Virgin Blue Aircraft. If you look at the top of the body, you can see a “hump” on top of it, and that’s the satellite receiver for the inflight Foxtel TV. And not all Virgin Blue got that hump, so you know which flight got the Foxtel and which one didn’t…
As a Civil Engineer I like observing the building, sorry can’t help it even though I never build one before so far. Anyway, found out a special acoustic design for the airport. There are “fins” installed on the ceiling all over the terminal building. I hope I am right, the fins serve as a medium to direct the sounds straight down to the floor vertically and disallow the sound to travel horizontally on the ceiling. This reduced the echo effects in a big building so passenger could hear a clearer announcement. To make it better, the floor was covered with carpet which absorb the sounds once it reach the floor. And in fact, the sound system is one of the best I came across so far in Airports.
And that’s it, I am done with everything in Brisbane and back to Melbourne. A bit disappointed for not being able to continue what I should be doing here, but that’s okie, the next destination will be in Geelong…
